My friend witchcub and I have been talking about this for a while now. Many men who say 'I Love You' have no clue as to what love really is. You should read his post: Keith's Post

Agreed. And don't I know it.

I count myself lucky to bring the count to a measly 2 people as well.

...and women who say it often don't have a clue either. I think there are many, many people who *in general* have not a clue what love is. They are in love...with the idea of being in love. It does not make a lasting relationship.

Part of the problem is that we all have the idea of "happily ever after" drilled into us from a very young age.

Another problem is that lots of people, men and women, seem to confuse lust with love. Lust usually fades.

witchcub and I were talking about this as well in Vancouver, which is why we were joking about being in a relationship after meeting the night before.

I'm going to cross-post Keith's post on my journal. The more men that hear this the better.

You were joking?!?! I thought it meant something to you!!!

Yeah, was nice swapping who had the freakiest "I love you" stories. My favorite is the "I'm so in love with you" after exchanging maybe a dozen messages over IM (Bear411). Oh yeah, clearly you know me well enough to be in love with me from seeing a pic, reading my profile, and getting a few lines of chat... RIIIIIIIGHT.

I totally agree that more men should hear this. My only concern is that, for the ones this pertains to, it will fall on deaf ears.
