No smoking, but feel free to breath bad air

So, it's the last day to smoke inside in this dusty little hydrocarbon filled town, and I'm left wondering. I wonder about how we as people can be so obsessed with riding one cancer causing agent from our lives, yet the foundation of our society emits thousands (probably millions I just don't have any exact number on hand) of tons of carcinogens ( Read more... )

second-hand smoke is worse than city air. what i don't get is how smokers can continue to lie to themselves and put themselves at such an insanely high risk of cancer. sure, there are carcinogens everywhere, but the ones in cigarette smoke are far more concentrated, and more likely than not to cause health problems.

when there are smokers around, i generally go away from them. it's just so disgusting, they may as well be urinating on my shoes :o

I really do understand what your getting at; I just feel that to stop the sentiment at that point is tragic. I feel that the ideal of people not smoking is a great spring board for cleaner air in general, and in hesitation to move forward with that idea is folie.
