This year I allowed them to have an index card and they were allowed to write as much as they wanted to on it.  In my philosophy of teaching math, I don't emphasize memorizing every single formula (some... yes).  I'm more worried about whether or not they can apply the formula to solve real-world problems. I have found myself on your page again. I have been trying to find something to do over the summer seeing as I have physics and calc class and all by friends are gone for the whole summer there is really nothing to do besides study. I dont mean to come off crazy or anything if I do, I do apologise. Your journal is just the only one that I have found that doesn't bore me to be honest. o_0
