Keeping secrets from Leo was next to impossible. Leo was born curious and bright as anything and not all that adverse to snooping, which meant he usually knew what was happening long before it happened. But Draco was proud of himself. He'd made all the arrangements out of the house and made sure that no correspondence came to him about their little pre-15th birthday trip ( ... )

One good turns another.

And remember, Daddy only loves you as much as you spend.

Normally Draco started considering what to get his Father for Christmas right around New Year's. It was virtually impossible to buy anything for him. Whatever his father wanted - he had ( ... )

The first Christmas present he ever gave Capella came surprisingly easy for Draco. He'd given her emeralds, and he'd given her letters written in her mother's hand. But Draco knew there was one thing more he could give her. He could give Capella Pansy.

He spent two weeks in his office making a list, editing it, writing it over and over again until he had it just the way he wanted before he began filling vials with slivery wisps. By the time he was done there were 100 vials in a plushly padded silver case, each labeled with a date and age.

All of Draco's memories of Pansy as they'd grown up. From the first time he met her to the last time he saw her. He ran a loving hand over the contents of the case before closing it and flooing to meet with his daughter.

Draco didn't give Christmas gifts.

Not after Dumbledore died.

The very notion of Peace on Earth and goodwill towards men died with the old man. So did Draco's childhood. That sort of innocence turned to ash in his mouth.

Draco didn't give Christmas gifts.

Except the one.

The package was left on the doorway at Spinner's End with a short, succinct note.

For the time you've given me...

Scorpius didn't get his present from his father right on Christmas. It was too soon after the full moon. Draco wanted Scorpius to be feeling his best before even attempting what he had in mind.

Only after the color returned to his son's cheeks, and the heaviness in his step disappeared along with the shadows under his eyes did Draco take Scorpius' hand in his and apparate to Toronto. They appeared in the alley behind a massive building. On the side of it was painted 'World's Biggest Bookstore'.

Draco grinned at his son. "They carry around 150,000 titles. We have to be at our next destination in two hours. You have until then to get as many books to the cash register as possible. No magic." He glanced at his watch. "Your time starts...now." In all his life, Draco had never seen any child move so fast.

After watching his son put a dent in the Malfoy fortunes, Draco took his hand again and they appeared in South Africa. "You know Son, much of being a Malfoy means having experience swimming with sharks. It's never too early to learn ( ... )
