tendinitis/epicondylitis might be losing (and me winning, yays)

I'd hate to jinx myself but... after a month and a half of seeing a naprapath and following her exercise and nutrition regimen (mostly), I am starting to see some results. (The chiropractor has helped, too, as the shooting pain alternating with numbness/tingling that goes down my R forearm is probably, as he suggested, at least neck-vertebrae-nerve ( Read more... )

So full of yays for your improving health! (And I've had that same experience of improved health and mood with the nutritious smoothies that -- oddly -- I didn't get from eating the SAME nutritious foods whole instead of blended.) I use a lot of the same ingredients as what you use, and also protein powder, beets, walnuts, ginger, blueberries, cranberries, flaxmeal, wheatgerm, jalapeño pepper or other hot pepper, hemp seeds, and chia seeds.

I just got some protein powder yesterday. It's vegan, not because I'm vegan or anything, but because the dairy gives me GERD so I can't use the whey-powder derived protein powders.

I can't use nuts in my mixer, I think it would blow out the motor. But after I've paid off the bills from Nov., Dec., (and Jan/Feb), I'll hopefully be back to working 5 days a week instead of only 4, and then I'll have paid off my bills *and* have bigger pay checks to buy a more expensive high-wattage blender. I have a spice grinder that I can use for the chia seeds and flax seeds. I haven't thought about cranberries, but then again, why not? I don't like super-sweet things and they sure are tart. Blueberries are probably my least favorite berry, but maybe I'll give 'em a shot.

Anyway, yeah, I've been pleasantly surprised by the difference the smoothies have made! Hopefully this trend will continue. *fingers crossed*

Blueberries are not a particular fave of mine either, but I almost always add them to the mix because of their high antioxidant value. The cranberries I really do like, and I prefer my cranberries NOT in all that sugary compote style that most people do with cranberries.

My mom used to buy whole cranberries to make her own cranberry sauce. We grew up not eating oversweetened everything, from cranberry sauce to homemade lemonade. There is something tasty about tart tastes that seems to run in the family, because we're all still like that (though we don't all make our own cranberry sauce, lol). So you'd think blueberries would be tasty to me too, but they're not. Though maybe if I blended them in smoothies it would be different... more tolerable...
