Can you be manipulated if you know that you are so being at the time you take the decision to follow a given course of action?

I only get upset about being manipulated if pertinent information is kept secret so I can't make an informed decision. But then I didn't look for the pertinent information so it was partly my fault.

Yes. Manipulation is an odd thing. We generally don't like it, but we allow it to happen to ourselves so often. Sometimes, we can tell we are being manipulated, but for whatever reasons, we allow ourselves to follow the path the manipulator wishes. It's very complex.

The question is not whether you allow yourself to be manipulated per se, but whether, when you realise you are being, that you consider the courses of action and decide that you will follow the one the manipulator wished you to anyway, because, actually, it is the correct course of action for you at that time. St this point, it is probably not manipulation, but rather someone having brought the "correct" option to your attention in an unexpected way.

Awareness alone does not constitute action (or seemingly in this case a reaction) - being aware that you are the subject of manipulation does not bring an end to that manipulation.

The end only comes when the tables are turned, and the situation reversed.

Usually with a lot of screaming, pain and blood.
