★ Jinki knows he's not like all the other neighbors.

Jinki was sleeping comfortably in his bed. The snow was falling softly out of his window, making his apartment slightly colder than what it had been during the day. It was silent, like every night, until the distant sound of a door opening and closing echoed in the apartment.

Even if the noise was faint, Jinki's eyes fluttered open. He had always been a very light sleeper. It was almost ridiculous how the smallest noise could wake him up and prevent him from sleeping for a whole night.

He sighed heavily, since he knew all of his efforts to have a good night of sleep were wasted now. He stirred slowly and got out of his bed to see what had caused his awakening. Jinki scratched his head as he slid his feet into his bunny slippers.

They used to be so soft and pure white, but now they were grey and he could feel the cold floor under his feet through the material. The slippers still emitted a light squeaking each time he set his foot on the floor and that was probably the only reason he kept them.

Jinki crossed his arms and rubbed his sides as he shivered. The cold air around him was fresh, but a little unpleasant. Jinki walked to the front door of his apartment and looked through the door eye. The noises probably came from the hallway and he had always been curious at what happened in the vacant space out of his apartment.

Jinki noticed someone's back in front of the only window. It was unclear and the picture was distorted, but he figured it was someone living in the apartments across from his who decided to come out and enjoy watching the snow cover the city. It was a weird thing to do at 1am, but, knowing his neighbors, it was highly possible.

Actually, Jinki wanted to go out too, since he knew he wouldn't be able to fall back asleep anyway. He could use some company and he got along with all of his neighbors.

He took his bathrobe from one of the hook on the wall and slid his arms in the sleeves. He tightened the belt around his waist before he turned the doorknob.

As soon as he stepped outside, the person in the hallway turned to face him.

Kim Kibum, the boy living next door, was gazing at him with his cat-like eyes. He observed him for a moment before he turned and showed the back of his pink, over-sized pajamas again.

"Hi neighbor," He mumbled. Jinki noticed his usually happy voice full of mischief was absent that night.

"Why aren't you sleeping?" Jinki yawned, dragging his feet closer to Kibum.

Once he was close enough, he propped his elbows on the edge of the window. Kibum sighed. Even though most people would feel unwelcome by the younger boy's behavior, Jinki knew Kibum just wanted to talk about what was bothering him.

"You're going to get bags under your eyes and we'll never hear the end of it," Jinki chuckled.

Kibum let out a scoff. "I've been tossing about for hours,"

"Your bed is uncomfortable?"

"No, I'm just thinking about..." He moved his nose in hope it would warm up with his gesture. "some stuff,"

Jinki blinked at the snowflakes stuck on the transparent glass in front of him. "Is something wrong?"

Kibum hummed as a response. He squirmed on his feet awkwardly. "I'm just stressed out, you know."

"Lots of stuff going on at school?"

"Yeah and I'm feeling a bit lonely." Kibum explained. "My parents live so far away. It doesn't feel like home here,"

A light breeze made Kibum shiver and suddenly warmth engulfed him. Jinki had thrown his bathrobe over his shoulders, thinking that the pink pajamas were cute, but not made for cold weather.

"I already told you, you could knock on my door any time you want," Jinki grinned, placing his elbows back on the edge of the window. "You're always welcome,"

"It's 1am," Kibum snapped. "I won't go knocking on my neighbors' doors at this time of the night,"

Jinki laughed heartily. "I'm not just any neighbor,"

"Right," Kibum smirked.

They looked out at the calm city in silence. Kibum still looked annoyed by something; he was frowning deeply. Thoughts were probably whirling around Kibum's mind, taking all of his concentration. Jinki coughed lightly, trying to get some attention back.

Kibum didn't look at him, but hummed as a sign of acknowledgment. The younger boy took in a breath, as if he was about to speak, but kept quiet. The lights of the city were shining in his brown eyes. The small lights floating around his eyes looked like fireflies in the night.

"Something's missing," Kibum said, an odd shade of red covering the upper part of his cheeks, just under the eyes. He glanced up at Jinki only to look back down when he noticed the older boy's eyes on him. "In my life, I mean."

Jinki smiled softly at the snow, letting an obvious pink color come up to his cheeks. His hand sneaked under Kibum before turning both of their hands over to intertwine their fingers. Kibum's fingers fitted perfectly in the spaces between Jinki's.

The younger boy gasped softly, snapping his head to the side to look at Jinki questioningly. He didn't pull his hand back and the other boy only held onto it tighter. It made Kibum hide a smirk by pretending to sniffle.

Kibum noticed a scent similar to his mother's special stew she'd cook for him on cold winter days like this one. It smelled like his parents' house, his home. He vaguely wondered if it was coming from Jinki before everything disappeared. Kibum was brought back to reality by Jinki's hand that tugged on his and he watched the darkness outside the window and his reflection in the glass of the window.

"Tell me," Jinki's voice was low, melodious and somewhat curious. "Do you wish we'd fall in love?"

Kibum wasn't able to suppress his smile this time around and he let his whole body lean onto Jinki's. His eyes closed as he let warmth engulf him. His head was on Jinki's shoulder, the itchy material of his shirt rubbing against Kibum's face. Now he could recognize the scent; it smelled like home.

"All the time,"
