★ Everyone discovers that Kibum is sometimes too hasty.
"Do you think Kibum's home already? I'm starving!" Jonghyun whined as Jinki and him entered the building they lived in.
"I don't know," Jinki shrugged and waved at Taemin and Minho who had just stepped in the elevator. He asked them to hold the door until the two eldest members would get to them. They all fitted in the confined space and Taemin pressed the button to the right floor.
"Hey little ones!" Jonghyun greeted cheekily. "You're home early today,"
Minho approached him to put emphasis on the fact that he was taller than him, before he smiled and explained that Taemin had done so well on the TV show that they let the two guests go home early. Taemin nodded through the whole speech and Jinki congratulated the youngest boys. Jonghyun just stayed silent, knowing that Jinki and he had stayed longer than expected in singing lessons because he had been fooling around the whole time.
Jinki did not say a word about this though and Jonghyun was grateful for it.
"I feel like eating noodles," Taemin pointed out, rubbing his growling stomach.
"We're heading for fajitas from what I've seen on the counter this morning," Jonghyun replied. "We never get to say a word about this matter," He added under his breath.
Jinki chuckled lowly before a ding sound could be heard and the doors of the elevator opened widely for them. Taemin rushed out and skipped to their apartment's door, punching in the number to unlock it. Jonghyun was not too far behind whilst Jinki and Minho were taking their time at the back, watching over the two others with an amused gaze.
The hall of their apartment was soon filled with unzipping noises and meaningless talks as the boys started to remove their coats and shoes. Jinki was the first one to get out of his winter clothing. He slowly walked away from the group.
"I want cheese," He said, planning to make his way to the kitchen.
"Jinki-hyung?!" Kibum yelled from an unknown location. Three heads lifted in the hall, ready to hear what Kibum was going to say. If it was about dinner, then their ears were always willing to listen.
Jinki stopped, not too far from the other boys. "Yes?"
Suddenly and out of nowhere Kibum ran to SHINee's leader, throwing his arms around his neck as if his life depended on it. He rubbed his face against Jinki's shoulder, whispering incomprehensible things in his shirt. The other was frozen; his limp arms pressed on his sides and his eyes wide with confusion.
"Wow, I want cheese too." Jonghyun said, staring at the pair. Minho and Taemin frowned and looked at him suspiciously.
"I think Kibum's just friendly today," Minho remarked while disentangling the scarf from around his neck.
Meanwhile, Jinki came out of his daze and put his hands around Kibum. He leaned his head against the younger boy's, still wondering what had got into him. He figured Kibum was just feeling affectionate today, which was not something Jinki was going to complain about. Kibum was slightly tickling his neck with his hair in his apparent inability at stopping rubbing his nose onto Jinki's shoulder.
The eldest of the two didn't dare to speak up and ruin the nice warmth Kibum was providing him, so he just let himself be hugged while nervously hugging back.
"I think Kibum's lost it," Jonghyun noticed, untying his shoelaces. "I mean, what's with- What the hell?!" Jonghyun shrieked when he looked up to see if the hug was finally over. It made both Taemin and Minho turn their heads and follow their hyung's gaze.
Kibum had launched his lips onto Jinki's without warning. The older boy was just nervously being kissed by his younger band mate without responding, but he seriously wondered if he had gone insane. However, he didn't push the other away. He was kind of enjoying the pink lips pressing against his dry ones. Jinki unconsciously released a contented sigh that didn't go unnoticed by Kibum.
The latter had all the control in the kiss since Jinki was unable to move or even think about moving. He snaked his arms around his hyung's neck and pushed down, attempting to wake the other up.
The three viewers' expressions transformed into shocked ones at the sight. Jonghyun gapped, almost losing balance because of his half removed shoes. Minho averted his eyes awkwardly while Taemin looked fascinated by the scene.
"Dear Lord, I freaking want cheese now!" Jonghyun exclaimed and Minho threw a glare at him.
Taemin blinked, clearly puzzled, and turned to his hyungs with questions marks all over his face."Hyung, where's the mistletoe?"
Minho seemed troubled, but still searched for mistletoe above Kibum whose mouth was still glued onto Jinki's. Nothing was hanging from the ceiling and nothing was stuck on the white walls around them. The tall boy glanced at the magnae. "I don't know Taemin,"
Jonghyun took a step forward, ready to run and bluntly ask what had gotten into Kibum's head. However, Minho, as the good dongsaeng he was, yanked him back furiously.
"Don't disturb them," He said quickly then let Jonghyun go. "There's surely a good reason to all this,"
Just when Jonghyun was about to snap something back, Kibum detached himself from the leader, attracting all the gazes on him. "I love you," He said, loud enough for everyone to hear. Jinki was flushing a deep shade of red by then. He got a peck on the cheek before Kibum added soft: "You're an angel,"
Jonghyun pulled a disgusted face, but that was ignored by the others who were too surprised and confused to react to anything.
"I love you," Kibum repeated, covering Jinki's face with butterfly kisses. "God, I love you,"
"Wh-Wha-What-" The assaulted boy managed to say, not finding his situation wholly inappreciable.
In the hall, Jonghyun pointed accusingly at the couple, gasping. "Don't tell me this is Kibum being friendly!" He yelled. "He's friendly with me and I can assure you he's never done that!" Jonghyun thought about his last statement for a second. "At least not when I was awake!"
Minho raised both of his eyebrows high and decided that his older band mates needed more privacy and definitely not needed Jonghyun commenting each and every of their actions.
"Let's go buy dinner," He said, putting his clothes back on.
"Okay...Can we have noodles?"
"Of course Taeminie," Minho opened the door, stepping outside. Taemin happily bounced behind him, talking about various desserts and treats. "Come on Jonghyun-hyung." Minho held open the door for his hyung who was tying up his shoes again.
"Geez, I'm coming, I'm coming." Jonghyun muttered, slipping his arms into the sleeves of his jacket. He threw a last glance over his shoulder, watching Kibum smile delightfully while whispering sweet words that didn't fail to make Jinki redden. "Do we really have to go?" He yelled after Minho and Taemin. "I don't think they mind us," He looked back inside, curious at how Jinki would react when he'd come back on earth.
"With all due respect, Jonghyun-hyung, shut up." Minho rolled his eyes before beckoning him to follow. The door closed with a gentle sound.
The sudden silence made Jinki shake his head and push Kibum away softly. He stared at the boy's gleeful features. Kibum had a pink shade on his cheeks and an excited glint in his dark orbs. Jinki eyed him and gulped.
"Key?"
"Thank you so much! I swear I wouldn't have guessed, but oh my God! It is the most adorable, the most amazing, the most memorable present I've ever got!" Kibum swung his arms around in happiness. He smiled widely and shifted from one feet to the other
"What are you talking about?"
Kibum made a sound that was close to a cat purring. "The little note with the red box and the bow...You know?"
"Wh-What?" Jinki's eyes widened and he backed away. "You opened your present? When I wasn't there? And it's not even Christmas yet!"
"Hm...well, you were gone and..." Kibum fiddled with his fingers, lowering his head and looking down in shame. It wasn't long before a smile found its way back to his lips. "It was just so tempting!" He reached to grab Jinki's sweater vest and tugged down to make Jinki stumble closer to him.
The older boy pouted. "But they were hidden..."
"Oh please, your underwear drawer is not a good place to hide gifts." Kibum snorted.
"What were you doing in my underwear drawer?"
"I was -- That's beside the point!"
"But-"
Kibum silenced him with his lips. After mere seconds, the contact was gone and Kibum had both of his hands clutching the clothes on Jinki's chest.
"The point is: I like it and I want to thank you," Kibum was about to lean forward again and give yet another kiss to the blushing boy in front of him, but Jinki somehow got the courage to speak up.
"Thank me with- with that? Kibum that was reckless of you! What if I didn't like you back? I could've punched you or hurt you!"
"But you didn't, right? That means you like me," Kibum played with the collar of the shirt coming out of Jinki's sweater vest. "Right?"
Jinki paused to think about it carefully. As he was thinking about his feelings, he wore what could only be described as a stupid expression. Kibum giggled and took his hand to drag him to their room. Jinki was reluctant to follow, not too sure where this was going.
"I'll give you your present too! You deserve it," Kibum let go of him to walk to the book shelf in the corner of the room. He made the legs screech against the floor as he pushed it, revealing small, highly decorated boxes.
"Oh no...I'd rather unwrap it on- Is that mine?"
Kibum nodded frantically. "Yeah."
"It's very...silver,"
"Hm, I overdid it with the glitters, didn't I?" Kibum scratched his head as he handed the small rectangular box to his older band mate.
Jinki picked the gift as if it was going to bite him. "Kind of," The sparkles were falling off, covering his hands, making them glittering under the low lights of the room. "Th-Thank you,"
"Ah, I'm sorry! You prepared such a beautifully wrapped present and all I can offer you is this crap," Kibum sat down on the edge of Minho's bed with his elbow on his laps and his chin propped on his hands
"It was pretty simple to wrap actually..." Jinki took a seat beside the boy, roaming his back with his hand soothingly. "I bought the box, put the jewellery inside and tied a bow around it."
"Simply amazing yes! I mean, you even wrote a poem and everything about the stars that twinkle...Then I saw the necklace, it's so pretty...and I only have this for you,"
Jinki eyed the present in his hand. "Kibum, I'm very happy with your present but-"
"You didn't even open it,"
Jinki ignored Kibum's interruption. "I'm happy with your present. But I want to wait on Christmas to open it. It's not fun if we don't exchange gifts,"
Kibum gasped faintly, realizing how wrong he was to open the gift out of curiosity.
"Well," Jinki started, placing the box beside him. "It's just different,"
"I'm sorry. I really am...I just..." Kibum sighed and rubbed his cheeks with his hands. "I read the poem and I couldn't help it. But please open the box; it'll be like exchanging gift! Just two day too early,"
Jinki looked at him with a serious expression, scaring the younger boy a little. Then he smiled softly and grabbed the box that left glitters on Minho's bed. Jinki carefully lifted the lid of the present to peer inside. There was a paper; a tiny red and green paper.
"I really didn't know what to give you alright? I got this camera for you, but then you bought yourself one and I didn't have anything else planned so I ran to the bookshop you always talk about to get you this...I'm so sorry it's not as personal and as great as what you gave to me..." Kibum bit his lips, watching Jinki stare at the paper.
"It's a gift certificate," The older boy stated, reading the bold letters on the piece of paper.
"Yes. I'm not good at buying books," Kibum turned to look at Jinki who was still heavily absorbed in his reading of the paper he was holding. "I'm so sorry."
"Thank you," Jinki made him blind with one of his bright and happy smile.
"You don't have to-"
"No really thank you! It's been a while I didn't buy anything for myself. I love bookshops, they smell good and they're so peaceful. Don't you think?" Jinki’s smile widened. "It's a really nice gift Kibum, really thoughtful."
"You really think so?"
"Of course I do. It's nice to know you actually listened to me when I told you I liked that bookshop,"
Kibum blushed faintly and leaned up to plant a kiss on Jinki's lips. The latter broke the kiss quickly and put his present aside so he could face Kibum properly.
"Okay, okay. Why are you doing this?" Jinki questioned, pointing at his lips to show what he was talking about.
"The kisses?" Kibum blinked, settling on Minho's bed more comfortably since he tented to slide off the covers. "I already told you I love you. And with a gift like what you gave me you can't really deny the fact that you love me too, now can you?"
"I- I," Jinki gulped down the excess of saliva in his mouth. "I wasn't planning on letting you know,"
Kibum smiled sweetly at him. "Well I am planning on letting you know," He scooted closer to other boy, licking his lips as he did so. "I know you don't like being rushed, but tonight we could go to some place nice and enjoy a good meal..."
"Like a date?" Jinki squeaked out, trying to resist the reflex that told him to back away.
"A nice, christmassy date," Kibum clarified. "Then we can get back here, in the dark while the others are sleeping and..."
Jinki winced and stood up abruptly. "I- We should go slowly with these kinds of things..." He blushed bright red again and Kibum feared that if this went on, his face would be stuck to this color forever.
"I didn't mean to come home late to -- go fast. We could, you know...snuggle a little?"
Jinki looked at Kibum, contemplating the options. Then he bit his lower lip and nodded, still unsure about the whole matter. "I'll go, but let’s choose a simple place, there’s so many people in restaurants at this time of the year...”
Kibum nodded at Jinki’s remark.
“And Kibum...please don't be too...uh..."
"Understood. I'll try not to be pushy."
"Thank's,"
Kibum got up beside Jinki and grinned. They made their way to the front door, thinking that they looked decent enough to go out in the clothes they had on. Not to mention that without make-up and with winter coats on, they couldn't be recognized. Kibum helped his hyung with his scarf so he could steal a kiss after pulling down on the long piece of clothing.
Both boys stepped outside, wearing almost too many layers of clothes. Jinki's voice was muffled by the scarf and the collar of his coat. He walked like a lost penguin down the hallway and hopped in the elevator. Kibum, who was definitely smoother in his gestures, also stepped inside.
Jinki shuffled on his feet while the doors closed. "You know, I saw this place on a poster yesterday. It was near the-"
"We're going to the Starbucks Coffee down the street."
"Okay,"
