once you get the "system" down you're good to go for basic ones. I can do one (just simple, no "lookalike" stuff) in 30 minutes - maybe less.
The secret to eyeballs and flowers etc.. is henry Ford. mass production and assembly line. The individual time decreases faster if you make them in at least pairs. I find I usually do half dozens of the flowers.
Keep at it, they are really fun, relaxing, and nice thank you gifts.
(did you sign up on my site and see the "secret members only" tutorials as well?)
You're right, they ARE really fun, relaxing and lovely little gifts for people. I'm a baby 'broiderer, so I've been using beads to decorate mine, and they look very.. cute. Very fittingly Ottoman, with overtones of Hollywood.
Actually, this year's gift giving at the State dinner (what is traditionally the MONSTER gift exchange) won't be happening. I spoke with Her Royal Highness this weekend at Winter's End and they're doing the gift exchange by drawing names (though Midrealm and East will exchange with each other). Try to think on the more positive side.
I've just that I've seen far to many "nice thoughts" of this sort turned into a full time royal chore when it comes to stuff like this, and having been conned into a few and volunteered for a few others, I guess I'm just not in the 'sucker" mindeset this time around.

I made you a little one for last saturday just didn't make it to the event! it's a heathery forest green with blue etc... I'll try to get it to you soon, but if you make your own you find you end up using th em in weord plces and end up tucking one in every kit you have. You really can't have too many!

I think I'll pick up some felt when I'm out this afternoon and see what *I* can do. :-)

Unfortunately it's still at her apartment. :-(
I made another one today - a crown. It took me the better part of the afternoon/evening, but I'm in no big rush to get things done. :-)
When I figure out what I did with my camera, I'll post pics.
