Welcome to my disenchantment.

I'm digging selling on Etsy. I think I've make about $300 just since the 21rst.

On pincushions. Of all things. Holy hell that's not even a bet a las Vegas bookie would take. (Hroar, you have go to make an account and put some pottery up...)

Who knew the things I make during TV time would sell like something resembling hotcakes. My flaky 'fame' on ( Read more... )

I love your pincushions - they're so clever and cute! And I love the one you sent me. Cass gave it to me a while ago, but I keep forgetting to thank you for it. It's perfect - and it's in my colors of green, cream, and burgundy! Thank you *so* much!

I have the little green and purple one you gave me at Pennsic in my SCA work basket. It's the perfect size for the basket. :-)

If you ever do another bee hive, I'd be happy to buy it from you. I saw the one that Trina has and it's adorable ~ I immediately developed pincushion envy!! :-D

I wasn't talking about friends I gave them too of course, they have a freaking clue.

But if you like the bee hives, heck honey those are easy.

Just make a base one only make the sides REALLY TALL, and instead of a stuffed ball in the cap just fill the tall sheath and the cap with filber fill and drawstring it shut up top. Sew a little circle over the pleats at the drawstring to hide all that uglyness and then couch down a spiral from top to bottom. Sew on a a black arched door. the bee is a little more work, I do him out of thread and felt, but a bee button is just fine.

If I have my stuff with me when I see ya next I'll make you one on the spot. (you coming to the Kitchen Aid tour? I can make/start one while we're eating lunch.)

It's probably going to be a while til I see you again. I'm not traveling much these days - being nauseated most of the time kinda takes the fun out of traveling. :-(

I really don't wanna barf in the car...

But I'm half way done! Yippee!

You know years ago I used to make ceramic beads, and faience beads. None of my SCA friends were interested in them, but the merchants at Pennsic loved them. People are stoopid sometimes. Didja know I also used to make marbled paper? NO one used to be interested in bookbinding, either. You're just ahead of your time. Those pincushions are the cat's meow. I'm glad etsy is working for you.

BTW, you probably won't see the pincushion you gave me too often because I like it so much I keep it on my good dressingtable with my nice jewelry -- it holds my good veilpins.

Etsy is the _perfect_ place for those pincushions. Everything handmade, etc. My own sales there since shifting some items from eBay have been minimal, but that's fine; when I work on a scroll, I won't always have the time for necklace/circlet/earring construction ( ... )

That's so awesome! I set up an account on there, but I have yet to put my stuff up. I hate rejection and I have a feeling what I have won't sell.

Wow, can't imagine leaving anything behind when someone's been kind enough to leave a note or a little somethin-somethin'

Poor manners! *harummph*

I do know sometimes the folks don't realize the tokens are -theirs- and they can take them. I know I've told someone once or twice "Oh! You forgot your tokens!" and they blink and go "I get to keep them?" So if they were newer A&S entrants, I'd suspect they just didn't want to take someones lovely pincushion they left on the table by accident or some such.

SCA people in general are slow to buy something if they think they can make it. Also people get used to getting stuff for free; it's the reason folks who do calligraphy and illumination can't sell their work in the SCA.

see and they could sell some on etsy. Imagine how easy it would be for some to just get some small white note cards (with envelopes, from a scrapping/craft store) and doing simple illuminated initals with single words.

[L]ove
[C]ongrats
[T]hanks
[F]riend
[H]appy [B]irthday

etc... a nice diapered ornate first initial, either charge for the singles or for a set of six different ones or all the same sentiment..., etc... no gold leaf or fancy pigments, just plain paint. Make some white and gold for weddings, etc... i think they'd sell!

It's not like it would take an expericenced scribe in the SCA much time to whip some out.
