Um, so I'm guessing I know why you thought this chapter might be unpopular but truly, I can see Annie with almost anyone (except, oddly enough, I don't feel it with her and Troy though I think you could mine some comedic gold from them) despite being a Jeff/Annie girl at heart. Of course, we also don't know if Troy and Annie actually did the horizontal mambo, so, you know, there's that.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how it develops in the next chapter because you created some interesting possibilities when you mentioned Troy in 6B (the future-present chapter of Abed's). Very excited!

To me it's less about being able to see Annie with anybody, though obviously that's a factor because she's really experiencing her sexuality (and what a sexuality it is) for the first time, and more about the fact that if Jeff and Annie are going to work as endgame, even just in fanon, I much prefer if she has some other experiences built up. You have to regret some stuff first, you know? In addition to that there's just such a goldmine of a relationship going on between Annie and Troy, between their positions as the only people who knew each other before Greendale and their sexual attraction to the other one in turn, that I was dying to explore it a little. And as you may have guessed, I kept the details of the night ambiguous on purpose ;-) I don't even know for sure what happened, to be honest.
So happy you're reading and reviewing so dedicatedly, and good luck with your moths.

Fair enough - when I say "see Annie with" someone, I generally mean, I can feel their chemistry or understand where the feelings between them are coming from. And yes, to some degree, I can see a relationship of some sort working between them. I don't think Annie needs to have more experiences for it to work between her and Jeff but I think it would certainly save their hypothetical relationship a lot of grief and anger if she did.
Then again, Jeff doesn't seem to have a lot of relationship experience either, that we know of. His "relationships" have been largely sexual conquests, which, obvs, not the same thing.
Annie and Troy do have a lot of possibilities to work with if you wanted to give them a relationship, though I can't see them necessarily working long-term. But I don't see them not working, either. I don't feel it between them, but I acknowledge that is entirely just a personal preference.
And having read 7B, it's still sort of ambiguous! That's so unfair! I mean, not really, but it's ( ... )

But I do reiterate the comment above about not minding Annie with anyone, for me its more about her feeling like she's a confident woman in her own right and deserves someone to love her back. I can't wait to see what Troy's side of things are going to be now on the flip side - I wonder if the reason Troy didn't come was because he has unrequited feelings for her? Oooh, that's a thought! Haha, just kidding.
But I am eagerly awaiting the next chapter :)

Because I love Annie so much I'm sometimes reluctant to play into her faults, but the truth is that sometimes when we're vulnerable we do shitty things to people we love to make ourselves feel better. Annie's not unaware of Troy's attraction to her, and yet she let something happen between them anyway. We saw a similar situation when she had just broken up with Vaughn -- she knew about Britta's supposed feelings for Jeff but didn't let it stop her. I've said it before and I'll say it again: you have to make some mistakes before you get it right.
Thanks so much for the review!

And you are completely right, if we let these characters get it right first time around then it would make the fics we write seem less realistic and probably boring :)

Aw, this one felt a little sad to me. In a good way. I was expecting something like this after your hint in the first chapter.
Troy/Annie doesn't really work for me on the show, but I like the idea of something happening between them in the interim. I read the comments above, and I agree - I want to see Annie get some romantic experience with other guys before embarking on anything with Jeff. I want to see her develop some confidence in herself when it comes to guys, and feel a bit more comfortable in her own skin.
So anyway, the idea that something happened with Troy, however brief, doesn't bother me. And it's very nice to see this side of Troy in the story. Troy is often played for the fool, but there's obviously more to him and I like that it's explored in his friendship with Annie.
Jeff was still sitting alone at the dinette set and looked back quickly when he heard someone approaching, but only saw Troy framed in the open doorway to his bedroom.I like the subtleties of this chapter and for me, this was one. We don't ( ... )

And don't feel like a dolt! In my timeline, Annie and Troy kept living together until they graduated from Greendale a year and a half later and Annie moved to Denver with Jeff, so there were PLENTY of funny embarrassing things that happened in that apartment. That was definitely what I had in mind.
