My lap top is always dying every year. :/ They're small and can therefore burn out easily. Desktops are more durable for about five years, but I like lap tops more myself even if it can get pricey for upkeep.
You could try getting a Mac. I don't know how reliable they are though.
I would recommend Toshiba but... you already tried them :| I've had this Toshiba one for 4 years. I had some virus trouble (not its fault) and I had to get a new screen or screen light or something (probably its fault), which was expensive, but I still love my baby! *cuddles it*
It's desktops I don't have much luck with. And vacuum cleaners.
Also, where did you get yours?! I got both my laptops from Wal-Mart - the dentist office I clean has a lot of Acers (which was my first brand) so maybe Wal-Mart just gets shitty stock or something. Since two different brands from there died on me. My desktops - I think one might've been from egghead.com or something (my uncle got that for me) and I have no idea where the others came from. I know just not Wal-Mart. They lasted. So maybe that has to do with it.
I got this one from Best Buy. The desktop too... and it works okay but it's laggy as hell. ALL my desktops have always been laggy. Some salesguy said it was just the way they are. Pffft. At first I thought the problem with my last one was that it was refurbished (and the one before that, long ago, had too many friends messing with it and undoing what each other had done >.>), so I got a nice brand new one with lots of memory, and within a week it was doing the freezing up thing again. Now I basically save my music on there and play Sims and that's it.

Excellent article and easy to understand explanation. How do I go about getting permission to post part of the article in my upcoming news letter? Giving proper credit to you the author and link to the site would not be a problem.
