So I had parent teacher conference today and learned.. that a VERY large part of his classroom problem is that he never experienced socializing with other children when he was younger

I'm sorry, but before I read the next sentence I was like, "WHAT? Oh god, he's too young to even be NEAR a cigarette!!!"

It's so frustrating when kids are graded on how they interact with others. It's sad when a kid, who really WANTS to play with the other kids, gets penalized for it in his grades when they won't play with him. And this is no problem of his, but of the other parents. I wish they'd see that they're hurting a KID by being so exclusive.

I worry about finding work here. I doubt anyone will hire me, since I'm not Mormon.

Anyway, I hope things go better with your son, and that he can find some friends his age who'll play with him. Geez, there's GOT to be SOMEONE here that isn't Mormon, besides you, me and my parents. :P

I'd say you should invite the neighborhood ladies over for coffee and tea for a good old fashioned, sensible discussion on community values, getting to know the people around you and the value of your fellow man.
