Let me tell you what's wrong with our health care system. It's not that insurance isn't available to the masses. It's that between the doctors and the insurance companies, even if you HAVE insurance, you're still goign to go bankrupt if you get sick ( Read more... )

It makes a lot more sense if you realize it is not insurance. It is "Insurance," the kind you buy so Guido and Nunzio don't break your knees.

Most insurance out there is a joke. The idea is supposed to be: everyone pays a small amount per month so when a few get sick, they can use the pooled money to pay for their medical bills. The way it actually WORKS is everyone pays a lot per month, and when a few get sick, only a tiny bit (if any) gets taken out of the pool to help pay their bills. The rest that's in that pool goes into the pockets of the insurance company.

It shouldn't be like that. Health care isn't something optional like owning a car or a house, where you can take the bus or rent an apartment if you can't afford to buy them. This is going to the doctor when you're sick or injured. They literally have you by the balls (or in our case, the ovaries) when it comes to paying because in some extreme cases, it's either pay or die.

I hope things get better for you. This whole thing is just making me pissed off. You're paying the insurance rates, you should get coverage.
