[drabble] Kaoru, Kyo-Ode to Maggots
Title: Ode to Maggots

Warnings: Strong language, cursing, bad attempt at humor?
Summary: Kaoru and Kyo have an interesting chat about their best creations becoming their worst nightmares.

He jumped to the sound of curtains to one of the bunks being pulled aside abruptly and since he was laying back against the wall that housed the said bunk, his most prized possession scattered from his face into his lap as he sat up to make sense of things. He looked around, it was still night out and the other members were still sleeping-taking note of his drummer and bassist curled up together in one bunk, and there were no signs of stopping any time soon which added more to his irritation, because he could really go for a cigarette right about now.
He looked to his right and found their vocalist stumbling out of his bunk, cursing and scratching his head in which his hair stood out at odd angles worse than actually getting it done for a live. Kyo looked just as irritated with a cigarette wedged between his lips and brows furrowed together like something was really bothering him. He finally caught sight of Kaoru, who was laughing now that he knew someone else was in a worse mood than he was.
"What's up?" he mumbled and watched Kyo, who was still disoriented from sleep, rake his fingers through his blonde locks.
“I had a fucking nightmare...is it still dark out? What time zone are we fucking in?" he grumbled as he took the cigarette from his lips, deciding that it'll only make the craving worse keeping it there. Instead, he reached over the bags of opened snacks and grabbed anything to munch on.
"I don't know...I don't even know if we're still on earth anymore. You didn't have to rip the curtains off you know, scared the shit out of me..."
"I was suffocating..." said Kyo with a look and then caught site of the other two members curled up together.”Are they fucking each other or something?" But Kaoru didn't care as he was too busy inspecting the other guitarist's stash of liquor in which Kyo followed him into doing and each took a bottle of their liking.
"So tell me about this nightmare, anything good we could use...." said Kaoru as he took a swig out of the bottle, but Kyo shot him with a look.
"Fuck you it’s because of the ideas you used I'm dreaming about them now."
Kaoru understood. "Which one is it this time?"
Kyo looked away mumbling and Kaoru had this look on his face that was half amused and half trying to feel sorry for him. “Ah geez, not the Zan fairy again..." mused Kaoru
"Fuck you it was a Pixie!"
"Whatever...who thought of it first bitch?"
"It was your sick mind Kaoru!"
"It was not!"
"Was too, bitch!"
"Who wanted to dress up like that thing?"
Kyo paused for a moment, remembering the day they shot the pv with the said fairy/pixie from hell. He sucked his teeth in defeat. "Fuck. you."
Kaoru sat back with his arms over his chest and smiling smugly while Kyo grumbled and stuck his unlit cigarette back in his lips again, looking away as he mumbled "bitch..."
The bus went silent for a moment, nothing else was heard other than soft snoring and a few bumps in the road, until Kaoru spoke up again. "Well you know what I was dreaming about?"
"I don't care..."
"Oh I'll find that you will since it involved your favorite type of pet..."
"Ooh were they coming out of your ass?" scowled Kyo.
But Kaoru only laughed. "No out of my mouth, I was throwing up maggots!"
Kyo scrunched up his face, impressed and trying not to laugh at the same time. "Throwing up maggots?"
Kaoru nodded proudly. "Neon green maggots...top that bitch."
Now Kyo had a wide smile on his face. "Because we were talking about the glow in the dark maggots for Dozing Green…"
"Yeah, there was so many that just kept spilling out. I don't remember much of the dream but I remember I kept thinking," Kaoru paused to lick his lips. "how all of those maggots fit inside my stomach, and it felt like I was going to bring up more!"
Kyo was laughing now.
"I was feeling nauseas earlier, and I guess with our talk about maggots made it into the dream."
Kyo nodded slowly, and a moment later, had a quizzical look on his face. "It is amazing how abundant they seem to be, right?"
"Yeah..." Kaoru agreed while thinking.
"I mean they just seem to appear out of no where...like, when something dies, there they are!" said Kyo and Kaoru couldn't help but wonder the same. Then wonder how these long road trips managed to make them think of the most ridiculous of things, but the best of things. Some of their best creations came from idiot conversations just like these.
"And to think we're still making references to maggots..."
"We did that a lot" laughed Kyo. "Like, so much that ...if Dir en Grey had a mascot, it would be maggots!"
Kaoru laughed with him. “Good idea..."
They fell quiet for a moment until. "Too bad the glow in the dark maggots didn't fit in Dozing Green..."
Kaoru twisted his lips in thought. “I have a feeling they'll fit in somewhere..." he then looked to Kyo with a devious smile in which the vocalist returned with one of his own. Each taking some form of comfort within knowing that after all these years together, some things didn’t change after all.
