what gear are you getting?

a few specifics (largely from PK's recomendations):
-10 BD oval biners
-shit tons of webbing
-Metolius (maybe? unsure still) curved hexes, 6-11 at least
-the Marathon 10.3 (Sterling rope)
-Camp USA tricams (he says sizes .5-5)
-DMM wallnuts (1-10)
-HB offsets (7-11)
I'm not sure on most of that pro, still, though.

1100 is a rough estimate based on appraisal of general prices for each type, not necessarily for specific pieces yet.
You've read more gear reviews than I have, what do you think of curved vs. straight edged hexes?
I still have a lot of lookin around to do. Yay!

I imagine the curved vs. straight is something to do with force/physics...not sure what is better.

Did you tell PK that you want to use the gear for big wallin'? You will probably want some multiple cams of the "commonly used" sizes.

I forgot to mention:

You will want some slings/daisychains, accessory cord (6-7mm), and a few (3-6?) trad-quickdraws (the ones that look like 2 'biners with a sling wrapped around 3 times) to avoid rope drag, and a second belay device (even if it's a $10 stitch-plate) incase you drop one (or learn the munter-hitch).
