This is fantastic. I loved how you described the imperfections and flaws and unfinished endings between Billy and Dignam -- just the sad realism of things and how things don't always work out the way they should. I also appreciate the way how you explored Madolyn and Billy's relationship. Wonderful.

I'm really glad you liked this, as this was my first step back into fanfiction after a terribly long sabbatical and I was incredibly nervous about this fic. I think I edited it about 50 times after I posted it, no joke.

I did include some line-by-line movie bits but I wanted to go into what the movie didn't show (at least in my perverted head)--everyone knows they're a volatile twosome and I wanted to show a softer, more painful side of them without feminizing them or butchering their characters. I hope I ended up doing that. >.>

It was definitely fun to explore Billy and Madolyn's relationship, for me. I felt that a lot of her behavior in the film was crappy and wanted to kind of go into that, because Billy had to have felt something about what she was doing.

I wish that their relationship wasn't so sad, but I really don't have the heart to do an AU, what-if-Billy-lived kind of story. Of course, never say never, but I don't really want to write that kind of thing because I feel like that's veering just so far off-track ( ... )

I have been lurking around the community for a while now since I watched the movie and fell in love with it, but I just joined today. I was so excited to see a new fic up! I love Dignam, obviously, and you did a wonderful job. Excellent work, keep it up!
ps. I loved Dignam on the bottom ;) more?

It was definitely fun to write... Dignam and Costigan are both retardedly hot and even more so with each other. And I agree with you, there's a sad lack of really good Dignam/Costigan fic :[ I've only read one or two that I really liked. Anyway, thank you for your feedback and I'm really glad you enjoyed it :)

oh wow. That was really something else. Wow. I'm trying to express myself intelligently, and clearly, it's not working. I'll come back when I can do this coherently. Did I mention- wow.

oh, its a good wow, very much so. The characterisations just worked for me in so many ways; you quietly create such a rich private side of these characters that still rings true with canon. The mind meltingly hot sex, complete with male bullshit baggage and fear of intimacy. The fact that Digman was on the bottom nearly killed my brain was only icing on the cake. And the ending was terrific. I realise that I sound like a crazy fangirl, but I've never read any Departed fic before, so this was a great introduction to the fandom. *figets*
