In the aftermath of any preventable accident there are numerous thoughts going through one's head. Chief among them are the many things that could have been done to prevent it. In my case, a sampling of those thoughts includes

I'm sorry to hear about your car accident; it's definitely an inconvenience. I can totally relate to what you said about living more in the past and the future. I get serious cases of nostalgia (about freshman year at VCU, about studying in France, about visiting/living in different countries, about my friends overseas), and it's almost comforting. And then daydreaming about the future, sheesh! I spend more time thinking about the final result (move to France) than on the things I should be doing right now to make that happen. I think I'm getting better, though. It's definitely something I'm working on.
sorry for the superdelayed comment, I don't read these things as often as I should.
I'm glad you're okay. (I'd use my usual 'I'm glad you're not dead' in honor of seeing you posting here, but that seems unnecessarily morbid, considering.) If I believed that everything happens for a reason this is probably the time when I would insert that and feel like I was giving you some useful advice. - Unfortunately I'm not in the business of useful advice. :)
I tend to live in the past and the present, myself. It's strange. The future is a scary place full of potential for me to ruin things, and I can't make much more than vague plans in its general direction, but those don't always (read 'rarely') come to fruition. For every 100 faux-grand plans I make, I manage to achieve a hand full. (See? Even my description of the number of successes is vague. :P It wasn't deliberate, but I'll claim it and pretend to be clever.)
