Another thing, even though they have that law, I wonder if they have actually ever thrown a tourist in jail on the issue. I think if they had there would be a huge uproar in this country, so I bet they have never done it.
I doubt that your guests would be in danger in wedding location, and it's hard to travel to a place where you agree with all their policies. After all we don't live in such a place.
However, I do think last I heard there was a boycott on Jamaican tourism because things had gotten so violent. You might want to check on that.
There are always the Bahamas, somewhere in the US Virgin Islands, or Aruba. I don't want to rain on your happiness parade! Yay! You set a date! Yay, two awesome people are getting married to each other!
I guess it is about your priorities as far as what you want on your wedding day. Is being in Jamaica the most important thing? That is up to you because it is your wedding.
I can't answer this question for you. Other folks have mostly said what I would have said.
When it comes to human rights issues I'm pretty strict about where I shop, and as much as possible even the things that I buy. Not everyone else is and I don't think less of them for it. If Jamaica is the location you want for your dream wedding go for it. If feeling queasy about their stance on gays is going to lessen your enjoyment of your wedding then it's okay for you to keep the date and change the venue. Really the most important thing is that you and Sandy have chosen to keep each other, the rest of it is supposed to be your party. Enjoy each other and your event.
