Invisible Man Fanfiction

Can ya beleive it? I think the only people who read that book are highschoolers or Black Panthers. Written for my English class in high school. We had an option of doing one of several things for the book we were reading in class. I chose to write an alternate ending because writing fanfiction for class is awesome...
I awoke from a restless slumber and hacked up what felt like sand paper. My throat was raw, and my head ached with a dull
throb. Where was I? Why was it so dark? These questions answered themselves as I tried to stand. Needles and flames struck my skin as I stumbled back down onto the uneven ground. The grit from the dirt dug into my fingernails which seemed to have an ache of their own. Dirt, that was right, I fell into the manhole, I had to get out! Yet, that might not have been a good plan. Perhaps Ras' men were still after me, or worse, the Brotherhood. No, maybe I would run into Mary, I had been looking to go back to her after all. She would take care of my pains as she once had, scold me, then let me live with her like some tolerant mother. The very thought brought a dirt covered smile to my lips.

Just as I started to get up again, something cool and smooth brushed against my left hand. It was my briefcase. A small hump protruded from its side from all the days upon months of collecting and never disposing. Memories and mementos all packed together in one tiny little space. When I resurfaced, would I really need and hold onto those things, or would I start anew?

Something thumped lightly on the lid of the manhole. It was calling.

Pain flared through my body as I stood again, I ignored it. Within the darkness I found a climbable formation and proceeded to heave myself upwards one hand and foot after the other. Just as I reached the lid I paused.

The briefcase still lay on the ground beneath me unseen in the nearly pitch black. Possibly a millennium passed before my sore
left hand reached up and pushed the lid over then onto the side. Right as I climbed completely out I quickly placed the lid back on. That briefcase would remain in the dark void, forever unseen by others.

Suddenly, I felt strange. Though I was covered in dirt and blood, I felt as though I just stepped out of a hot bath on a spring day. White jewels glittered in the black sky along with the flashing lights of the city. Everything was so astounding to the senses.

"Excuse me…are you uh, alright?"

That voice, it was an angels!

I turned as quick as a mother's slap to the source of the sweet sound. It was a mulatto woman. Her tied back brown hair was like amber colored satin, smooth and shiny. She had big, brown eyes like honey on a Sunday evening. Plump pink lips, a small pointed nose, and skin the color of coffee with extra cream. The young woman's beauty rivaled that of which I had ever seen, perhaps superior.

She was like a being from the highest of the heavens.

"Mister?" she said.

The angel gave me an odd look as though I had on two left shoes. I found myself struggling to explain myself yet all I managed was a hoarse cough. Oh how foolish I must have looked. Now she would run off as though I was some deranged homeless drifter.

"Well, it looks like you just ran through the world and back! Come on with me now, let's get you some water."

Speechless, I let the angel grasp me gently by the hand and leas me away. That was when I realized that feeling. I felt clean, pristine, refreshed, renewed and restored! As those lovely delicate fingers held onto my dirty rough ones, I could have sworn I was being led to the land above the clouds.

This beautiful woman, this magnificent angel, she saw me. She saw me and now she was taking me away.

End.

I honestly hate first and second person, but the whole book is in first so... yeah

fanfiction, invisible man, win
