Don't throw your old tag out. You'll need it.

Go to your local DMV, show them your expired placard (the thing that lets you reserve the right to park in handicap parking.) and state that you want to renew your handicap placard. Depending on where you live you might have to fill a form out or your doctor has to fill it out and you get it that way.

I think they expire every 3 to 4 yrs I might be wrong.

Just go down to your local DMV or where they issue the tags and they will rebnew it right ther. It will take about 5 minutes to get it done.
