Letter to Remus: 15 June 1977
The parchment is nearly written right through, and would have been torn to bits by Sirius' furious scribbling if not for his having a perpetually dull quill.
Remus,
Short note. Too angry to write more. You left before it all happened this morning but SUFFICE TO SAY THAT HOGWARTS IS AWFUL, BIASED PLACE BENT ON BIZARRE STANDARDS OF FAVORITISM. James got Head Boy and Lily got Head Girl. You're the bloody SEVENTH YEAR PREFECT, and what am I? I'M NOT ANYTHING.
IT ISN'T BLOODY FAIR MOONY. James spends JUST AS MUCH time in detention as I do and he does even worse things sometimes like that thing he did to Snivellus out by the lake when Lily got angry at him (sure it was hilarious but he did it and not me) and LILY SHOWS BLATANT SLYTHERIN FAVORITISM and who in their BLOODY RIGHT MIND would put HER IN CHARGE WITH JAMES.
I work just as little as James and we are both very popular and capable! I can't see WHY HE WOULD BE CHOSEN instead of ME. EVERYONE HAS SOMETHING. YOU and LILY and JAMES and even SOME of the professors like PETER and I have NOTHING.
NOTHING AT ALL, WHEN I SHOULD BE HEAD BOY.
Am not saying he does not deserve it - better one of us than neither of us - but bloody hell why was he chosen instead of me?
Bad, BAD Owl Post today. BAD. In addition to post from Hogwarts, cousin Andromeda sent me a letter saying I need to be at Grimmauld Place first weekend of July. I don't know why but even Andromeda's going and they hate her almost as much as me. I don't want to go back but apparently it is big news. Regulus will not speak to me so I have no idea what this about.
YOU KNOW.
I'D BET SHE'S BLOODY BEHIND ALL THIS AT HOGWARTS. Mum couldn't settle for ruining MY ENTIRE LIFE at home so she had to RUIN MY ENTIRE RUDDY LIFE AT HOGWARTS TOO.
