Archive Without giving Kyuhyun a chance to protest, Donghae dragged the taller boy over to his brother, forcing Kyuhyun to join in their large picnic. Kibum studied the boy next to him, taking in the boyish features, making Kibum wonder if Kyuhyun was younger than him. Yet there was a certain maturity that surrounded the boy. Though at the moment, Kyuhyun looked exactly like how Henry looked just before - overwhelmed by the number of people he was being introduced to at high speed by his hyung who in his excitement forgot that people needed time to digest his words. Debating whether to save the new guy from his hyung, Kibum shrugged as he noticed that Kyuhyun seemed to be handling himself just fine.
Indeed, everything was going fine until Donghae introduced one person.
“This is Hannie-hyung’s brother!”
Kyuhyun turned, nodding his head politely at Ryeowook.
“Hyung! I have a name! I’m not just known as ‘Hannie-hyung’s brother’.” Ryeowook complained slightly, only getting a sheepish smile back from Donghae. Ignoring the older boy, Ryeowook turned to Kyuhyun.
“Hi, I’m Ryeowook.” Ryeowook waved at the boy, for he was a few places away from Kyuhyun. His smile slowly fell from his face as he took in Kyuhyun’s reaction.
“The plate!”
Ryeowook’s sudden exclamation jerked Kibum into action. He quickly grabbed hold of the plate of rice that had fallen from Kyuhyun’s hand, saving the rice from becoming food for the insects on the grass. The exclamation attracted everyone’s attention in the group.
“Are you alright?” Eeteuk asked from his spot, his motherly instincts surfacing.
“Kyuhyun-sshi?” Donghae asked the side, frowning slightly at the pale face. He watched as Kyuhyun blinked a couple of times before answering.
“Oh, I’m sorry about that. Thank you Kibum-sshi.” Kyuhyun turned to Kibum, taking the plate from the other boy, ignoring the steady stare Kibum had on him.
Placing the plate on the ground, Kyuhyun turned back to the group.
“I suddenly remembered that I have to see a tutor now. It was a pleasure meeting you all, and thank you for lunch.”
Kyuhyun quickly stood up, grabbing his bag, bowing once more before walking off. Behind him, there was a group of bewildered people left, blinking at the figure walking away from them.
“What was that about?”
Shindong spoke up after a long silence. They looked towards Ryeowook for an explanation for he was the one who exclaimed, only to be met by an equally baffled look.
“I only introduced myself, and then he suddenly froze.”
“He turned pale suddenly after looking at Ryeowook. It was as if he was scared of Ryeowook.” Donghae added, remembering the whiteness on his new friend’s face.
Donghae’s statement made everyone, including Henry, more perplexed.
“Why would anyone be scared of Ryeowook? He’s practically harmless!” Sungmin voiced out.
“Hyung! What do you mean ‘practically harmless’? I can be scary too!” Ryeowook tried to pull off an angry face, but it was more of a pout which sent most of them into giggles, breaking the slight tension in the group.
“That wasn’t convincing at all. Scary should look like this!” Eunhyuk tried to pull a scary look as well, only to be put down by Heechul.
“Hyah! It should be like this!”
As the group started to engage in an impromptu competition of pulling scary faces, they gradually placed the odd encounter with Kyuhyun behind their minds. Only one was still staring at the spot Kyuhyun was sitting at before.

“Kyuhyun-sshi, this is Donghae-sshi. He will show you around the university for the day.”
Kyuhyun turned to face the guy his lecturer was pointing to. Kyuhyun wondered who the guy was for he was sure that he did not do Mathematics.
“Hi, I’m Donghae! It’s nice to meet you!”
Donghae said exuberantly, shaking Kyuhyun’s hand. The lecturer, seeing that the two were getting along fine, left them alone.
Kyuhyun was slightly taken aback by the energetic senior in front of him. He was pulled along by Donghae, who ignored the fact that Kyuhyun was silent next to him. Donghae maintained a one-sided conversation, describing the various classrooms and buildings they walked past as they headed towards somewhere unknown to Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun marvelled at Donghae’s ability to keep the atmosphere upbeat all by himself.
“So, what are you studying? Which year are you in?”
It took Kyuhyun a while to comprehend that Donghae was asking him a question. He wondered if the lecturer did not give Donghae any details before assigning him as his guide.
“Second-year Maths.”
“Really? I’m a second-year as well! I do Social Work. Did you just transfer here?”
Kyuhyun tensed slightly but nodded. Donghae sensing a slight unwillingness to broach the topic from his companion skipped onto another topic.
“Did you say you do Math? I know someone who does Math as well! Come, I’ll bring you to see him. And my friends!”
Donghae grabbed hold of Kyuhyun’s arm and started tugging Kyuhyun towards the exit, without giving Kyuhyun a choice.
Before Kyuhyun realised where he was, he was suddenly left alone in front of a huge - and he meant huge - group of people, hearing his guide’s voice to his side. He glanced warily at the people in front of him, wondering what he should do. From the corner of his eye, he saw a really feminine-looking person - he had to take a closer look to conclude that it was indeed a guy - but none of them seemed to pay much attention to him, which he was glad. As he was discreetly observing the group of people, he was suddenly grabbed on and introduced to the group.
He was pulled to the floor, where he was introduced to Kibum, Donghae’s brother. His mind was trying hard to keep track of all the people he was introduced to. He was doing fine and enjoying the food - which was surprisingly good - when he was introduced to another set of brothers.
“Hi, I’m Ryeowook.”
Kyuhyun froze at that. He stared at the person diagonally in front of him, slowly taking in the features.
“Hyunnie! Come play with me!”
“Hyunnie ah! I’ve just learned a new song! Come sing with me!”
“Hyunnie, I don’t want to go!”
“I promise. I promise, Kyu…”
“…Kyuhyun-sshi?”
Kyuhyun blinked, turning to the voice. It was then that he realised where he was. He gave a gentle shake of his head, trying to get rid of those memories that surfaced. Turning to Kibum who had grabbed his plate, Kyuhyun quickly gave some excuse and left before anyone could react.
Kyuhyun forced himself to walk and not run away despite every inch of his body telling him to put distance from the group as fast as possible. Entering the building - he had no idea which one it was; Kyuhyun quickly led himself into one of the empty rooms, shutting the door behind him.
Kyuhyun leaned against the door, sliding down to the floor as his legs gave out on him.
“You promised yourself to start afresh here.”
Kyuhyun muttered softly, burying his head in his knees.
“Forget everything that had happened. Stop holding onto the promise.”
Kyuhyun ordered himself to forget.
“Hyunnie…”
Kyuhyun shook his head, trying to remove the voice from his mind.
“You can do it.”
Slowly, Kyuhyun stood up, albeit shaking slightly. Schooling his expression, Kyuhyun walked out of the room, as if a near breakdown did not just occur to him.

“Now, that was odd.”
“What was odd?”
“Yunho-hyung! Don’t scare me!”
Yunho laughed at his friend, taking pleasure at the surprise look he saw on his friend’s face.
“Yoochun, what are you doing in here? It’s lunch break!”
“Hyung, not everyone’s obsessed with food like you.”
Ignoring what Yoochun said, Yunho continued on.
“Let’s go to the cafeteria before they run out of food.”
Yoochun sighed, closing the piano cover and followed his over-enthusiastic hyung out the door.
“So, what was odd?”
“Huh?”
Yoochun looked up from his plate of food, wondering what Yunho was asking about.
“You said “that was odd” in the room just now.”
“Oh that.” Yoochun swallowed the food in his mouth before speaking.
“I was in the room, about to play when some guy dashed into the room. He didn’t seem to notice me, only to slide down to the floor. He started mumbling to himself, but I was too far away to hear it. After like a few minutes, he stood up to leave as if none of that had happened.”
Yunho nodded. “I agree. That’s weird. Why do you always meet such weird things? I mean, your meeting with Jaejoong was odd too.”
Before Yoochun could come up with a retort, he was interrupted.
“Yunho-hyung! Yoochun ah!”
The pair looked up at their names.
“Junsu!” They called out simultaneously to their friend.
“What are you doing here?”
“Eating?”
“Hyung, you forgot again! I told you that we’re supposed to have lunch with Hyukjae!”
Junsu explained exasperatedly, tugging at Yunho’s arm.
“Oh right. Let’s go then.”
The two quickly cleared the table and headed out with Junsu.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Hyung! There they are!”
Junsu waved at the huge group of people on the grass. He got an equally energetic wave back from his best friend.
Yunho whispered to Yoochun. “No wonder they are best friends.”
Yoochun chuckled, causing Junsu to look back at the two curiously. Junsu shrugged, choosing instead to head towards the group.
The trio were welcomed exuberantly by the group for some of them had not seen each other for almost the whole break. Plates were passed to them as they settled down, diving into the food that was diminishing at a scary rate.
“Where’s your other half Yunho?”
Heechul questioned from his spot next to Siwon which he had not left ever since they had settled down there for lunch.
“He’s not my other half Hyung!”
Yunho denied, but the blush on his face gave him away, causing everyone round the circle to laugh.
“Jaejoong-hyung is only coming into the dorm tonight for his class only start tomorrow.” Junsu said. “And yes, Yunho-hyung, everyone knows that he’s your other half.”
“Not you too Junsu!”
Yunho felt like digging a hole in the ground and burying his head in it.
“Stop teasing him.”
Yunho looked up, grateful at his hyung,
“Thank you Leeteuk-hyung!”
“It’s only the first day of term. We have the rest of the term to tease him about it.”
Leeteuk’s words caused everyone to start laughing again, and Yunho to bury his head in his hands.
“Hyung! I thought you were on my side!”
“Nope, Teukie is only on my side.”
Kangin wrapped his arm around Leeteuk.
Yunho shook his head, looking around desperately to find something to change the topic. There! My saviour!
“We seem to be having a new person in our group.”
Yunho’s words caught the attention of Ryeowook who perked up.
“Hyung, he’s Henry, my classmate.”
Henry, who was still trying to recover from the trauma of meeting even more people, looked up at his name. Yunho laughed at the look on Henry’s face.
“I’m Yunho. You’ve just surrendered yourself to the mercy of this bunch of crazy people.”
His laughter became more pronounced when he noticed that Henry seemed to nod at his statement.
“Donghae, what’s with the long face? It’s only the first day of term.”
Yoochun asked from his spot next to Sungmin.
“We just had a weird encounter with his new friend.”
Sungmin answered, before Donghae could come up with an answer.
“Weird? New friend?”
“He’s the new second year in Maths and is on scholarship.”
“Wow? A transferee on scholarship? He must be brilliant then.”
“That we don’t know. What we know is that he’s scared of our magnae.”
“Ryeowook? Who’s scared of Ryeowook?”
Junsu asked incredulously, getting a retort from Ryeowook about how no one was scared of Junsu as well.
“That’s exactly our point. Who’s scared of our magnae? Especially when meeting him for the first time?”
Eunhyuk concluded.
“That is weird.”
“Is today the day to meet weird people?”
Yoochun’s words got questioning looks from others.
“I met this odd person in the music room.”
“What’s a Law student doing in the music room?”
“Why can’t a Law student be in the music room? Anyway, back to my story. I was in the music room when this odd guy comes in, slides down to the floor and starts mumbling to himself. Then after a few minutes, he stood up and left. It was like I had imagined it all.”
“Maybe you did. Who knows with your imagination?”
Shindong inserted jokingly.
“I’m a Law student, not a Theatrics student like Yesung-hyung!”
“Hey! Theatrics students have imagination, not hallucination!”
And their batter started again, leaving Henry to only gape at the people who called themselves his seniors.
