With Melanie's death, and talking about it publicly, now it seems disrespectful to post memes, talk politics, and squee about kittens and happy relationships in facebook. I also know many of my friends have lost people close to them, with whom they were intimate. For me it turns out it matters a lot more to lose someone you were intimate with than

Sorry for you loss Jose. I did not know Melanie but as a distance acquaintance. We're getting older and it sucks. I still think of Bagel and other people who've gone from this world. I like memories, which is why I take pictures. Thanks for sharing a little about her and keeping her memory alive.

Thanks...been a while since I looked at this post but I do still think of her often. I'm also still losing friends and watching people close to me, yes like that too, age. It's weird and sad - but also life.
