Your description of earth here is really fucking wonderful. I love it.
But, I get rul squinty about the idea of water coming after earth, or responding to it, because it feels real other-way-around to me. In my imagination earth can only be without water in a post-water husk planet state, a Mars-like "Maybe there was life here, once" fossil.
