It seems a bit weird, like you said, to just end it when there are still fires happening, and it gives people more time to bid on stuff and organise themselves!
Also, are you guys still doing a collection of handmade stuff for the victims? If so, when's that stuff due in by?
Yes, I'm still planning to organise a collection of handmade stuff to the victims, but haven't really got started on it yet. I'm thinking of a late April due date - I don't think people really *want* much in the way of Stuff until they have slightly more long-term accommodation than tents. I'll do more planning after the auction.
Nah, that sounds wonderful-- gives me more time to get myself organised! Just lemme know when you're collecting stuff!
(Re-reading that letter from the woman who'd been in the Canberra fires, I was thinking of her "packs" idea and thought about all the stuff I have here-- I could whip up some cards or something, at least.)
(From what I'm hearing, a lot of the tent-dwellers in Whittlesea are moving out-- though they're facing other crap issues like having to live way away from their communities and the hideousness of the competitive rental market now, and from hearng stuff, a lot of that seems quite temporary too. I don't know what it's like up in Kinglake and Diamond Creek and Yea. (And now of course, there are the relief centres out in the outer-Eastern regions.))

I'm also thinking the delay is kind of good because it demonstrates ongoing concern - not just a couple of weeks worth.
