i landed here from ashwinb's journal, and lo! the first thing i see is jeanette winterson, and a book that i have heard a lot about. intend to buy the book in the future.
i came across winterson and her book in an art project which was very brilliantly executed. it dealt with personal spaces, and how we use them to interact/interpret people. the project, very briefly(and without doing justice to it), involved putting 2 people together in a room, not allowing the use of one of the senses, and then chronicling their interactions. the people depending on the sense that was to be blocked were complete strangers/acquaintances/closely related people. there were some very fascinating observations seen. the one i will remember most is of a father - daughter ( sense blocked : sight ), and they did not recognise each other. (this project was a part of the graduating class's exhibhits at the srishti school of art, bangalore)
