Mixed Solstace to you all

Happy Solstace! My feelings are mixed today. I made a boo boo with my macintosh. I was playing around, trying to load Suse 11.1 Linux for PPC on it (its a G5). I started to do a full backup, but STUPIDLY I though, nothing will go wrong ( Read more... )

Yeah, Linux should know how to see both EFI and HFS+ volumes. So it wrote a PC Master Boot Record over the EFI table you think? Have you tried booting and holding the Option key to seek for all bootable volumes on the disk?

Oh, you said PowerPC so no EFI. Still, HFS+ has been around for a while and SUSE should be able to work around it.

Ug, I really hate computers these days. Mine kept crashing and I kept losing everything... kind of. In the end I never actually lost anything because I was able to pull everything off the drive by hooking it up to another PC and pulling everything off. But going all through the system restore and re-install everything is total ass pain.

Sorry to hear you lost all your pics. That sucks. :( I live in fear of losing mine all the time. I always feel those are the one thing I have I can't replace. Pictures of Allura are almost as precious as she herself and I always fear losing them. I try real hard to back everything up and make many multiple copies, but I get busy all the time and often fail at that.
