If you're looking to get into games keep up on your rendering. Color and a proper understanding of form helps out when modelers have to make 3d based off your drawings. It really helps to understand lighting. Being able to draw environments is a huge plus, and anything you can do to diversify your content (fantasy, science fiction, etc.) helps out as well.

Keep up the digital painting, it's pretty much the standard from what i've seen and start looking into texture artist work as well.

This is a guy I went to collage with, he's a really strong 2d artist and will be in games pretty soon wihtout a doubt. If you're looking into the career of games, you'll be doing alot of stuff like him:

I've got a basic understanding of form and lighting. I need some work on perspective though. I'm not great at drawing environments either, that's why most of my stuff doesn't have a background. It's not really that I can't draw them though, I usually just can't think of what to draw. I think it would be fun to work on games, but I don't really know much about the process. Is it like you thought it would be?

Yeah, it's what I thought it would be. I come in and usually get to create art every day. I like the challenge of having to make art that needs to work within a game engine and still looks up to whatever standards I have ( ... )
