Family for me

Nov 21, 2006 12:57

Well I tried what I hope is a positive approach to explaining why this attitude bugs me. I posted this to CMA:

Recently I have had some reasons to seriously review what the word family means to me. )

Council of Magical Arts a Texas based pagan organization.

Puts on 2 festivals a year and owns some land in central Texas.

Recently in the last 10 years or so it has been inundated with this silly idea of "the pagan community" being a "chosen family".

Drives most of us a bit around the bend, and the people who have this idea are almost manic about it. Anyone who disagrees with them are attacking
"the community".

I like your thinking. :-)

I've never been able to figure out why so many Pagans want to embrace ALL other Pagans as their "brothers and sisters." Don't they realize that not all of "us" are nice... or ummmm even sane? I mean, exactly why should I be expected to join hands with folks and sing kumbaya with them just because we loosely share a "community"?
