Might I add.....make sure your cellphone is charged up, and have a charger that will plug into a car cig-lighter in case of evacuation. I only mention it because I am SO bad at keeping my phone charged up!
That was my opinion, I quite frankly didn't think that at all.
This part of the coastline gets a serious hurricane about once every 8 to 10 years, it is a pattern, if you trace yearly cycles. That doesn't mean Houston will get hit, and it doesn't mean we won't get one in an off year.
Just less likely, and intensity is usually much less when they do strike in off years.
Every 20 to 24 years we have a good chance of a high intensity storm.
But this year is very unlikely,...tropical storms sure, but hurricane...not probable. I haven't even bothered with my emergency kit this year.
But the year Katrina hit I had it stocked in advance. It was time, past time really, I sorted expected it the year before. But now we have had our 3 years of storm cycles on this part of the coast. Not likely for another several years.
Now to go roll up my windows before the tropical storm hits this evening.

Last year the weather service was saying "DOOMDOOMDOOM" all over the place. They were saying it again this year.

I don't pay any attention to the drama queens of weather.
Weather reporters are rediculous. Like you are getting any real info from some moron standing out in 70 mph gusting winds.
