One tip: if someone asks to friend you, and you check their blog, and they don't have any blog entries, and the user info is sparse or non-existent, it's a spammer.

I had a Myspace account but the stupidity over there made me get rid of it. At least once a day I had some underage looking icon try and get me to friend them. It was very annoying.
