Critical Non-thinking

Human stupidity amazes me, it is really fascinating to watch, kinda like goldfish swimming in circles.

Is it really so confusing, to get that support does not equal agreement?

Or that disagreement is not a personal attack?

Yes, its that confusing for many people. Loyalty, as a value, has very different definitions for people and multiple perspectives on just what constitutes loyalty or support.

Is this a general rumination, or did you have some specific episode of idiocy in mind?

No specific example, I have been hit by this awaerness of idiocy a lot lately from several different directions.

I have realized that I have to not expect other people to actually show me the respect to debate me, when they don't agree.

Passive aggressive drives me a little nuts. I need to get over it.

People who are offended by disagreement simply will not debate. They do not get the difference between respectful disagreement and offensive attacks.

We seem to have raised a generation which lacks critical thinking skills.

On the plus side I have recently realized with some pride, my children are capable of thinking for themselves.

P: Because they are prolly fearful of you. You'll debate circles around them and show them up as foolish.

P: Had some experience with this of late. {{sigh}}

I think I know what you are talking about.

Probably not. There have been a series of silly issues at work mostly that spawned this thought.

Though I also have seen some similar incidents of late in the news.

I can see how anyone probably could encounter similar stuff, since inability to use the human brain for critical thinking and insecure stupid ego issues seems to plague the majority of the human race.

I have some small idea. If one moves in the world of the longtail, then your above is incomprehensible, along with the idea that someone might be able to actually see something when you wave it under their nose.
