yes (exactly)! I think by the time our little biblical anthology came about, we were at the fourth gate, if you will. and everything beyond that in Revelations is a sort of prophecy (or maybe the telling of the first cycle, and now we're in the second, again at the fourth gate- I'd have to go into my theories about the Dark Ages to fully explain this, and is the livejournal comment page really the place to delve into that??).. anyway, now we've got popular culture as the last hope in defeating Death or Hell on Earth, or the apocalypse, or nuclear war, or global famen, or whatever is going to happen (with whatever language you want to put to it).. and I think it's a bit ironic who is in control (at the top of the pyramid, so to speak) of the various communicatory industries in place to impart a balance.. it's a bit frightening, actually. and now we're left with the individual journalists and film makers and authors and musicians to essentially "save the world" changing public opinion and shifting the ideology of the powers that be
( ... )
I would say yes but for the major trend toward passivity and apathy, plus the lack of willingness to assume responsibility... especially when media oligopolies prefer a passive audience. Once we've got the masses in front of the boob tube and we tell them the world is a wreck, how do we get them up off of the couch? How do we say, "You! Drop those Pringles and make a fucking difference!"
