My friend M is the opposite of me. She’s very private and slow to reveal herself. I, on the other hand, have an LJ called “I have nothing to hide.” She ponders, reflects, discusses. I act fast and go with my gut. She’s even and steady. I’m a thrill ride. I could go on and on. But we respect and admire each other for our differences. It’s really a ( Read more... )

Hehe. As you've probably noticed, I'm a total slouch when it comes to Facebook. I rarely initiate any sort of activity on that site. But I still think it's kind of fun, and useful on some level.

I friend people because I want to know what they're up to these days, and I can usually get a taste of that from looking at their profile without having any sort of conversation at all. I assume they do the same with me, and I'm fine with that. It's kind of like a friendly wave over the internet, with no further expectations, and I kind of like those kinds of friendships--where you're content just know that person is okay, and they're content knowing you're okay too.

I know! I was hoping for weekly "Allison Helwich just reviewed the book bla bla bla" updates on my home page. But nope, all's silent in the Ali corner. So are Jen and Jeff there yet? So fun! Tell her hi for me :)

Also, that's a good way to put it, a friendly wave over the internet. I'll tell M that.

"Why do people friend people and then don't say hi?" Because we want to see pics, read your info, and see what you have been up to! Since most people are private on facebook, we have to friend them to snoop! At least that's why I do it! I am going to try and friend "M" right now! I'm guessing 3 days later she will accept me! I might not say "hi" right away, but I do like to comment on friends' status and pictures. :)
