I think you're onto something with the "Island's dead having a motive contrary to the island". We have no proof that Jacob is actually connected to the island or just brought the MIB here to keep him here just because of the electro-magnetism. (A jailer didn't have to make the cell the prisoner is held in, just keep him there.) I'm wondering just how many criss-crossing motives we may have piling up here.
