[Hattie looks up to the imposing figure on the horse (looking like a boss), completely unaware that he might be a danger to her and that she should be afraid or wary. She offers the man a demure smile.]
[ He actually can see his problems when it comes to protecting this girl. Even though it makes his job easier that she trusts him, it's going to make things difficult if she trusts everyone so easy. ]
Deputy Sheriff Bruce Wayne 'ere, Miss Stark. [ And he's holding onto the saddle and jumping off the horse. ]
[She lets out a very short noise of surprise when he jumps down from the horse, taking a half-step back. Then she's smiling again, in awe of the feat. He's clearly who he says he is, if he can do such amazing tricks as that.]
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Wayne." [Hattie offers her hand with fingers curled beneath it for an old-fashioned style of 'shaking hands.']
"They have said it is a place full of determined people who are too blind to notice these poor conditions." [She speaks it as a compliment.] "Everyone I have met thus far has been lovely and with such a commitment to their work!"
[Hattie gave a small gasp as he startled her, but offered a meek smile in apology. Her hands were folded in front of her, waiting patiently as Bruce completed his errand. Marco, being on a horse in town, was clearly someone of authority and knowledge, so she was almost immediately impressed with him.]
"Yes, sir. My name is Miss Hattie Stark. I'm staying for a time until my uncle is able to fetch me with him to San Francisco."
[Hayley glanced down to hide the mild blush forming on her cheeks at the compliment about being a lady, then she glanced back up.]
"I don't mean to offend you, sir, but I am leaving to be with my family. It would be improper to remain here, regardless of reasoning. I'm certain you are a lovely person, yet to remain with you would be indelicate."

Miss Stark, I believe I'm to be your escort for your time in town.

"Oh! Thank you, sir! May I ask your name?"
