I love novels of the Victorian era period. A little introduction I guess. My name is Sharon, I live in California, and I just graduated in December as an English and Sociology major. I recently finished reading Charlotte Bronte's Villette which I probably should write a review for if I can overcome my inherent laziness =P I plan on reading all ( Read more... )

Well I'll be, a post! I'd pretty much given up this community for dead.

By all means, keep us updated on your reading, and feel free to post reviews if you'd like to. Pleasure to meet you.

hehe well we can't let love of victorian novels die now, can we? =) Hmm, I'll see what I can do about reviews. I keep telling myself I really should write them, but then my inherent laziness kicks in all the time.

Victorian novels! I hope they live on forever! I would love to write something set in the Victorian age, too, but I am also lazy! Lying in the hammock reading a Victorian novel is so much more fun!

If you don't mind a suggestion: Middlemarch and The Mill on the Floss, both by George Eliot, and Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy.

I just read Mill on the Floss around 3 months ago, and I loved loved it. *sigh* what a beautiful and profound book. It's fast moved up to my list of favorite books, or books that mean a lot to me. I'm trying to read more by George Eliot, I'm halway through Daniel Deronda, but my interest is flagging now. I definitely need to pick up and read Middlemarch as well. I've heard such great things about it.

I want to read The Mill on the Floss again soon. I love that book! To me, Middlemarch is a perfect book. I have the DVD of the film adaptation, but I have yet to watch it. I just did a read Great Expectations and fell in love with that book.
