Childhood obesity is disturbing to me. Children, naturally, have a strong metabolism and therefore childhood obesity is disturbing to me because it is a directly affected by a child's environment.

David and I are part of the slow food movement focusing on childhood obesity. A lot of poor eating habits come from the parents so we work with children to teach the nutrition that they may not receive at home. It gets them cooking, using natural ingredients, and has opened up parents to trying new things at home.

In Guatemala, people always thought that we were European. One finally said it is because we are skinny. Walking around Guatemala, we could pick out the Americans usually because of their waistline.

Despite my commitment to organic and slow food, I do admit that I occasionally have a Carl's Jr. hamburger!
