The video stream opens up on Victor, a slightly younger Victor with longer hair, so long that she could probably reach back and braid it, if she wanted to.

"If you're seeing this video, I died. A week ago. I have a system... if my biological functions go offline, a week later this video goes online. That's to prevent a mistake, if the system ( Read more... )

Honestly? I'm kind of a wreck. It wasn't a fast death.

Silens doesn't know why the video screen he's just walked by has flickered to life just for him, and when it's all over he has to type his reply.

Not dead because you talk to me now? Not understand?

She reads the text on the screen, nod-nods her head. "Heya, Silens. Ah. I was dead, I got fixed up. I, I recorded a video, for when it happened, and that's what was on before."

His face is hard to read most of the time, except when he makes an effort to smile. Right now he just looks mildly confused.

Were dead but not now? That can happen?

"Not usually. I was... extra lucky, after bein' super unlucky. I have a friend, who can do that, sometimes."

Victor is lucky the video cuts away when it does, or she'd have a sobbing Adia on her hands. As it is, she's still only in shock, blinking confusedly at the screen. It appears she's in the Nexus -- a large fir tree is lumbering behind her, its footfalls surprisingly quiet.

"What. Victor. You're okay, then?" Adia leans in a little, as if skeptical. "What do you mean you were dead but you aren't anymore?"

"I'm better now. I mean... I just had some organ failure, and now." She swallows hard, and she looks like she's really trying to hide the fact that she's losing it. She swallows again. "Now I don't anymore. I was technically, technically only dead for a few minutes. Nanobots to fix me enough to go into a coma. In a stasis chamber, until my healer friend could find me. Took a week."

Just had some organ failure. Just. Adia lets that information sit for a while, and for a brief moment looks a little envious. Must be nice, to have the technology to come back from the dead.

But she can see that Victor is traumatized -- she's seen that look on the faces of many people, including her own -- so she frowns sympathetically and murmurs, "Sorry. You don't have to explain. I'm just glad you're alive again."

As to why she had the organ failure.... "Better to explain now, then to leave questions forever."

"I was lucky. That I had a friend who could do that. I was so lucky; he's the only person I know who can... I'm sorry about the video. I just didn't wanna make my, m-my fellow go out and tell people, when I died." She sucks in a deep breath, closes her eyes, fingers tapping fast on the desk in front of her. Relax. Relax.
