Vic's bachelor party is broken into three parts, one for each bachelor, although Vic's third has Cole in it, too, and James' third is mostly... reverse-dressing entertainers. Who keep finding their way accidentally in Victor's section (perhaps because James sends them, perhaps because she gives each one a trenchcoat to borrow and a mug of cocoa ( Read more... )

Cole is indeed hanging out with his future bride and trying to ignore all the strippers in his part of the room. "I think he hired an entire club for you, Vic," he says, punch in one hand and Victor's in the other.

It's okay, these... anti-dressing adults are covered as long as they're on Victor's side of the room, because oh, what if they're cold, those nice people them. Also: naked people make her nervous. "I think so," she says, giving his hand a squeeze. "I think that's a legitimate possibility."

Cole is torn between being embarrassed and peeking curiously because you can use one hand to count the number of people Cole's seen that naked. "They can dance well, though," he muses, taking a sip of his punch.

"Oh, gosh, you mean the folks who like to defrock?" she asks, with this look of distressed innocence, like he just told her that gummybears have secret lives and when you eat them you're destroying their bright gummy futures.

Clark is trying his very best to not look at the strippers, and succeeding admirably well for a young man his age. He manages to find his way to Victor before too long, having acquired a good-sized stack of aforementioned manly appetizers. "This is the weirdest bachelor party I've ever been to."

It's okay, the strippers are covered if they're in Victor's section, and she grins a little, apologetically without really being apologetic. "I know, right? I figured this was the right way to do it, though."

"Oh, it's fine," he hurries to add. "Just not the stereotype I guess. Though I could be biased; I've only ever been to one, ever. And it was Lex's."

"I bet his was more like James' side, huh?" Instead of Victor's, where she has nonalcoholic versions of alcoholic drinks, plus coffee, plus cocoa, and warm coats for the strippers. Unfortunately, James has more strippers than she has coats, so he could launch a tactical assault of nearly nude fellows/ladies, and she would be defenseless against the onslaught.

At the beginning of the night, James had found Victor, shook her hand, and promised he'd be on his best behavior. Then planting a kiss on her cheek and shooing her off to her corner, he'd turned back to his drawing board and suppressed the urge to laugh. Or just chuckle in a maniacal manner. Two hours and ten clothed strippers later, James knows that he has to step up his game.

"Okay, men, women, and otherwise," he says, leaning towards the remaining strippers. "Time to get serious."

Victor, in Victorland, is unaware of what's going on, though she did plan for a little bit of deviousness (as evidenced by her pile of coats).

It's then that a certain someone enters the party. At least a someone who looks like a certain someone and oh he heads right to James. Who could it be?

James reaches out to the new arrival and shakes his hand. "Glad you could make it. The young lady over there - the one with the blue sweater, yes - that's who I'm employing you for. Consider it a challenge. She's a little shy."

And that's how someone /very/ convincingly dressed up as Batman comes walking across the room to Victor.

Victor actually giggles, hand pressed to her lips and she gets squirmy the way she does when she has really big news, and she tucks her hair behind her ear, and waves hello, with that huge manic grin on her face.

John's running late, but rest assured Victor, he wouldn't have missed this occasion for the world!

"Whooo! Now this is a party!"

She wraps her arms around him warmly, smiling against his cheek. "John! Oh, it's wonderful to see you."

Awww Vic! It's always great to see you!

"Got your invite just in time. I don't believe I've even met your other beau!"

A horrible oversight surely!

"Gosh, you'll have to!" She stands up on her tip-toes, strains to see over to James' party where he is... surrounded by a gaggle of barely dressed gals and guys. She blushes, nudges John's shoulder. "He looks busy. A bit later?"
