I spoke with a friend on the phone a few nights ago and he told me that he had voted in the early voting process for John McCain even though he (my friend) is a democrat. I asked why, since he had already volunteered who he had voted for, and he stated that it wasn't a racial issue, but rather because John McCain was a Viet Nam veteran. I am also a Viet Nam veteran, but that doesn't qualify me to run a country.
A lot of people voted based on racial preferences/bias, but I believe that a lot of people also voted based on the issues, policies, and candidate qualifications to deal with those issues and policies. I personally felt like Obama and Hillary Clinton both felt that "change is overdue" when they submitted their respective bids. We have a woman president of Harvard University for the first time in the history of the University, and now we have a Black American president. Ahhhh...the possibilities are endless. And that is exciting! =)

the hard part is fixing all that's been broken, both here and abroad, and making it better.
still, with this victory, i believe we can do it.
