Fun, fun, fun. Not

Yesterday morning, I woke up to an insistent "plop-plop-plop" sound. At 5 a.m. Something, somewhere above my apartment had definitely sprung a leak. Most of the water leaking seemed to flow through the box around my electricity fuse box, so I was understandably quite upset ( Read more... )

it's always something, isn't it? sorry to hear about the leak and your neighbor's having to do without her radiator. hope they fix it soon!

the photos are making me shiver! it's supposed to be almost 70 degrees here today, but we'll get the cold soon enough.

Thanks, I hope so too - it's still leaking steadily, but no longer hot water so I'm guessing it's my neigbour's radiator system emptying itself downward. She promised to contact a plumber today to see if she could have the radiator system drained at her end.

It was quite cold and beautiful last week, and then it started raining again. I think it's currently in the mid 40s and cloudy - nice, I suppose, for this time of year, but not very photogenic or uplifting. ;-)

Poor you. I'm assuming you are without electricity until the ceiling and wall dries, as if you haven't had enough inconvenience with the sewerage pipe.

The box around my fuse box is a double shell cover thingy - not sure if I can describe it correctly - and the water seems to have run down between the inner and outer shells through a screw hole in the bottom, leaving the fuses dry (I hope). So far I still have electricity, but it could short out, I suppose. I'll just have to deal with it and count my blessings in the meantime.

I've widened a nail opening in the ceiling and the water is now leaking steadily through there, as well as through the wall and dripping down from the door jamb into my living room.

I think I can hear pipe-clanging above me now so hopefully it'll stop leaking soon.

Yikes! Water seepage is never a good thing.

Beautiful photos. We got our first snowfall here on Friday and it was nowhere as attractive as yours looks...

Nope, never good, but one of those things to be expected when living in an old house.

Thanks. ;-)

very sad news. at least it didn't include something falling through the ceiling from the water-soaked floor above.

that last shot is great. the sweeping arcs of the clouds are great.
