I got nothing new, no photos and no new developments - at least none positive, except that my ceiling finally stopped leaking some time last Saturday morning. That in itself is a "woohoo!" worthy thing, but on the negative side, my insurance company investigator still hasn't shown up to estimate damages, let alone repair anything

Completely random comment, I just wanted to pick your brains... if I may... do you know of any good guesthouses or hotels (not too pricey) in Reykjavik? This may be a stupid question - if you live there you probably don't stay in a hotel... but... thought I'd ask, as I'm thinking of heading there for a few days around my birthday in March next year.

Unfortunately, I'm unfamiliar with the hostel/hotel scene in Reykjavik. The only guesthouse I can recall right now (and only because I've walked past there a few hundred times :) is Flóki Inn:

It's not in the center of town, but within walking distance, and seems to be reasonably priced (for Iceland). On the downside, it is situated on the corner of a pretty busy street, so it might be a bit noisy (at least during the daytime, no idea how it is at night).

If I hear of or spot any others, I'll keep you in mind. ;-)
