I've been getting into vidding recently and Foolish Passion as well as this community have proven to be a goldmine of helpful advice and tutorials

I admit my ignorance regarding codecs. I've never picked one. I only followed the instructions to export my avi file to an mp4 file. I think they look just fine, much better than wmv or mpeg files.
Unfortunately, Streatmclip doesn't work on my computer for whatever reason. I think it might be because I'm on Windows 7 and Streamclip was never developed past version 1.2 for PC users. I think the lovely girl who wrote the tutorial might be on a Mac and using a newer version of Streamclip. I'll go back and reread the tutorial. Maybe I've missed something? (THank you for the link!)
You might ask them. I know when I had a problem combining 4:3 footage with 16:9, they were a big help. One of the gals walked me through what I needed to do to crop the footage to make all the clips the same aspect ratio. It was driving me nuts having them hop from wide screen to standard. The gal was quite knowledgable and her instructions worked, which I really appreciated.
I have made a post at the forum now but it looks like it's not really busy anymore. I'm now trying Avidemux. It just bugs me that for some reason VirtualDubMod does not recognise the DIVX codec.

I've probably not been any help!
