I'm having a problem with interlacing, and I'm wondering if this is a common problem with a common solution or if I should just go poke around in the settings of my various programs some more ( Read more... )

When you change the speed, do you also put some sort of de-interlace filter or click the...I can't remember what it is exactly but there's a little button next to the speed change setting in FCP that blends the frames when it's selected. You'll need to do that.

Bizarrely, I've gone back to look at my vid and do some experiments, and I think the problem was... frame blending! It seems I actually needed to turn it off. O.o

I had *exactly* this problem with my last vid when exporting to Compressor. I never resolved it, and ended up re-editing so as not to change the speed of the footage that was causing the problem. I had applied de-interlace filters--they didn't seem to get to the problem. I'm not sure it was even interlacing, actually; the stripes were so much more significant than normal interlacing issues.

So I sadly don't have advice.. but would love to hear if you solve the problem! good luck!

I realized I'd left 'frame blending' on when changing clip speed. Turning it off seems to solve the problem... But we'll see.
