Aspect Ratio out of AutoGK

Aug 18, 2012 15:29

I've been trying to encode vids for online release, but I'm having problems with AutoGK. When I put my avi file from Sony Vegas Pro 11 into AutoGK, it changes the aspect ratio. I've tried NTSC and PAL in DV and DV Widescreen renders, but the file I make in AutoGK always comes out wonky.

Do you have any AR options active? Hit Ctrl+F9 to bring up hidden options, then make sure "detect43" is unchecked. Also uncheck "aspect" if it is on and see if that helps.

Ctrl+F9 doesn't bring up anything and neither does searching for it. Is there another way to access the options?

Sorry for the delayed response - no, unfortunately I don't know another way to get at the hidden options. :(

It was something to do with the pixels. I have no idea what I did. LOL.

I may be of no help at all as I'm not familiar with either prog - however, it looks to me as though it's the balance between pixels, ratio and screen size and the anamorphic stretch for DVD you might be having problems with.

Make sure you have the right balance between ratio - screen size and pixel size. I know Divx often tries to convert to square pixels, that gives you a true 16:9 ratio and a square pixel of 1.0000, but a screen size of 720x404 - if your settings are trying to override one of these, then you often get an out of whack file result.

If you want DVD screen sizes - PAL or NTSC then you need to alter the pixel size to compensate for the stretch of the larger screen - off the top of my head, NTSC is 1.2121, can't think what PAL is as it's slightly different, but I can look it up for you if you need it.

That's probably been of no help at all, but I hope you sort it out. ( ... )

Thank you! I mess around with the pixels until it spit on something with the correct aspect ratio.

I don't know the program you're using but I use MPEG Streamclip. You can pick from a wide variety of output sizes (hundreds of combinations!) and play until you get one you like. You can even crop with this program if you need to remove any black bars, etc. It's a free program.

Good luck!

Strangely, I got the same product using MPEG Streamclip, but I've since worked it out. Thank you so much for giving me other options.
