You know, it used to terrify me as a kid. It was my first experience with my aquaphobia. My parents told me I once almost drowned as a kid, though I don't remember it at all. I used to have panic attacks trying to play Ecco, the depth of the ocean and the parts where you'd be stuck without air drove me crazy.
Nowadays it doesn't bother me anymore, though I still wouldn't ever want to go scuba diving.
It's weird, they actually removed some features from the previous version, namely the two-player modes. The controls feel kinda clunky for a game about controlling a lithe ninja. The graphics also seem kinda dated, but polished...if that makes any sense. Like someone took an old house and put a new coat of paint on the outside instead of replacing the siding. It's good, but at the same time it's obvious where it could've been improved. Sadly it just doesn't stack up with the competition, Metal Gear is a much better stealth game, and Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox kicks more ninja ass. It has a few merits of its own (stealth kills look sweet, and the grappling hook mechanic is still fun), but overall I'm glad I paid less than half the retail price. Even at a "discount" price for a new game (34.99-39.99) I can't recommend it.
