My father-in-law's brand new house burned down yesterday morning. It was struck by lightening, which somehow got in the gas line, which caused a small spark that jumped to the electric system (?) and ignited the whole thing. He was able to salvage some things from the basement that were kept in a fire-proof safe, but everything else is gone.
