Harry Potter, Book 7

Well, I bought "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" yesterday and spent the rest of the day reading it. Now that I can't accidentally spoil myself, it seems safe enough to log in...

I'm sort of still digesting it, I think. A lot more thoughts will sort themselves out, but for now, my thoughts contain

I think it's cool that several minor points of my favorite seventh book fanfics ('Secrets' by Vorabiza) actually showed up in canon.

I think that some of the changes JK spoke of were in deference to the fans, but since she hasn't said exactly what the changes are I can't be certain. But she was wondering why so many of us like Draco so much...

On the upside, I was happy enough with the book to accept it. I swear, If she had killed Draco, I would have called 'Secrets' canon and blissfully gone on my merry way. Mind you, I was not happy with all of the deaths. I cried. But it *was* war. It would have been too weird if no one we loved died.

I was ecstatic to see my thoughts on Snape's loyalties confirmed. But if Snape had lived, really, who would have accepted Harry's word on the matter besides those closest to him?

And look at all those fic writers who insisted that Severus loved Lily! They were right! So cool. I seriously hope JK reads (and enjoys) some fanfic now that the canon cycle is finished.
